Hello friends! After the long winter, it’s finally time for new, thrilling experiences in the stunning nature of Norway! Today, we are ecstatic to share with you the first spring tour for 2024 in the captivating Sirdal area.
It’s purely exhilarating! We’re back on the road at last! Even more exciting, this is the debut of our new prize possession – our Hobby caravan, which we joyfully received last Christmas. We simply can’t wait to see what delightful surprises this new adventure has in store for us!
So, let’s dive into our story! Grab a cozy cup of coffee and enjoy this travelogue brimming with exhilarating moments and captivating pictures!
On the road again
We are embarking on an exciting journey northwest from Arendal towards Flekkefjord, starting on the scenic road E18. Once we reach Kristiansand, we transition onto E39, and shortly thereafter, we pass through the charming town of Mandal. As we continue onwards, we are greeted by the stunning sights surrounding Lenefjord, leading us to the picturesque locale of Feda.
Above the enchanting Feda fjord, we cross a bridge that presents us with an exceptionally beautiful view, a moment to truly savor. Post-bridge, we enter a tunnel where we make an eager right turn towards Feda, descending gently to the fjord itself. Our adventure then takes us along roads 4160 and 4162, which twist and turn amusingly through the heart of Feda, and gradually ascend towards the majestic mountains.
We journey through stunning vistas, serene rivers, and tranquil lakes until we reach a crossroads where we enthusiastically turn right onto road 4202. Then, with excitement, we take a new left turn onto road 42. We continue on our cheerful way until we arrive at the delightful place called Tonstad. Crossing the scenic bridge over the Sira River, we drive right onto road 468. After about 10 km, we happily arrive at a small, charming campsite located on the right side of the road.

Lindeland Camping
Lindeland Camping spans the size of a football field, ensuring plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. On the left side, the administration and reception area welcomes you with smiling, friendly faces ready to assist with check-in. We arrived with our charming little caravan and received exceptional attention, making our stay truly delightful.
The campsite is well-equipped with electricity and water, making for an ideal stay. The bathrooms and toilets are immaculately clean and comfortable. Kids will love the children’s play area where they can have endless fun. In the administration building, there is a delightful museum showcasing old exhibits of traditional crafts. Additionally, a charming shop offers souvenirs and unique items perfect for gifts or home decor. Enjoy a delightful cup of coffee paired with delicious pancakes topped with jam and sour cream.
At the bottom of the campsite flows the picturesque river Sira, where you can enjoy fishing without needing a ticket.
As you ascend the mountain paths, you’re treated to breathtaking views and stunning lakes like Ljosvatn, Langevatn, and Urdvatn. Just a little further down the road, you’ll find the expansive beauty of Lake Sirdalsvatnet. Traveling up road 42, you’ll soon arrive at the serene Bjørnestadvatnet, and right after that, discover the tranquil Hammarsmark-vatnet.
The heights of Sirdal area
After some enjoyable day trips and a fantastic catch, we decided to try our luck with night fishing at several lakes. Though it was spring, the weather was delightfully warm for the season. We began our climb around 10 o’clock in the evening, and to our delight, it was still light enough to see clearly, making it an easy trek. Upon reaching the first designated lake, we were thrilled when a big mountain trout, 1.5kg, bit the line. Shortly after, I caught another one! We then moved to another lake, and boom, another excellent catch of around 800g. It was an incredible experience, truly up in the beautiful heights of the Sirdal area.
Another day, we delighted in the breathtaking views along the road and from the other side of the mountain. The gentle, warm wind played with our hair, and the sun made the day radiant. High up there, the little breezes danced around us, whispering welcomes and farewells, encouraging us to return. The lakes mirrored the joy in our eyes, adding to the excitement of our adventure.
We were absolutely thrilled and invigorated by our short vacation! The excitement was incredible! We had successful fishing trips and went camping with a caravan for the first time! We’re definitely going to do it again. Already planning for next weekend!
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
