When we talk about Norway, we must mention the unique Norwegian waterfalls! So much beauty! Аnd impressive, picturesque water cascades! No matter what you travel by car, train or ship. Everywhere you can see amazing falling water- priceless! The best time to enjoy them is May and June. Then the snow and ice melt and they are most high-water and attractive.
Here are some of the highest waterfalls in the world. Some of them are very popular. Norway is a place where they are simply amazing! We will give you some information about them.
Norwegian waterfalls
Vettisfossen is one of Norway’s tallest waterfalls, with a free fall 275m. It is chosen by the Norwegians for the most beautiful waterfall and is located in Årdal municipality.
Vøringsfossen– the most famous waterfall in Norway! It is part of the river Bjoreio in Eidfjord municipality in Vestland county, and attracts tourists from the 19th century.
Vinnufallet is the tallest waterfall in Europe and the sixth-tallest in the world. The 865-metre tall tiered horsetail waterfall is located just east of the village of Sunndalsøra, in the municipality of Sunndal in Møre og Romsdal county.
Langfoss is another natural landmark, which descends of about 612 metres on the mountain slope and flows into Åkrafjorden.
De syv søstrene (The Seven Sisters) waterfall is formed by Knivsflåelvane, which are located inside of the Geirangerfjord. The 410-metre tall waterfall consists of seven separate streams, and the tallest of the seven has a free fall that measures 250 metres.
Kjosfossen is a waterfall located in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The waterfall is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Norway. Its total fall is around 225 metres.
Nærøyfjorden is a narrow fjord, not more than 250 m wide in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county. On both sides there rise steep mountainous sides with beautiful and wild waterfalls. Here you have to go by cruise ship to enjoy the views. Your breath will surely stop in many places.

Møre og Romsdal, Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane are the areas with the most waterfalls. Sogn og Fjordane has 37 waterfalls, Hordaland – 34 анд Møre og Romsdal – 20. This amazing nature offers so many opportunities that it is sometimes difficult to choose where and what to see. And what about the majestic fjords, forests and lakes combined with these falling waters.
It is not easy to describe all this, a fabulous and amazing place full of surprises. We have heard more than once tourists dedicated to their cause how with excitement and trembling in their voices they describe in their films the greatness of the wealth created by nature.
