Dear friends,
This week we will introduce you to the exceptional experience during the first days of our trip.
We had originally planned to spend 2 days in Aurland and Flåm. We had heard a lot about the beautiful nature here and wanted to see everything with our own eyes. Beautiful landscapes of the fjord itself are breathtaking. A small summer idyll surrounded us, and it was as if time had stopped.
Aurland
After dinner and a short break at the hotel, it was time for fishing. We definitely had to try our luck here.
Flåm
Flåm was waiting for us the next day. We had reserved tickets for the famous Flåmsbana/The Flåm Railway. It is described as one of the most beautiful such train journeys in the world. At the same time it is one of the leading tourist attractions in Norway.
The train runs from the end of the Aurlandsfjord, through a tributary of the Sognefjord. The last stop is in the high mountains of Myrdal station at 867 meters above sea level. The trip includes the best aspects of the stunning nature of Western Norway. The route is 20 km from Flåm station to Murdal. The comfortable vintage railway train carriage contributes to the atmosphere. The whole beauty of the Flåm Valley unfolded before us.
Before ascending to the more impassable sections of the valley, the train passes through agricultural landscapes, the old center of Flåm and the old church.
The sparkling blue river follows the railroad for much of the journey, and you’ll pass small farms in places you’d think no one could live. We took a lot of pictures and filmed many videos.
The train made a five-minute stop at Kjosfossen waterfall, where we were able to get off on the platform and take photos. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the waterfall and the beautiful dance of Huldra – a beautiful mythological creature with long hair dressed in a red dress!
Stegastein
On the second day we drove up to Stegastein. This is a platform, that reveals an incredible view of the fjord below us. Turquoise blue water and green mountain slopes are all around.
In the evening, we went fishing again. We didn’t have much time and we were tired but we caught some good fish. We also met a seal.
It was hard for us to part with the beauty here, but Geiranger was waiting for us.
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
