Lillesand is a small town perched on the shores of the fjord with about 11,000 inhabitants. People are commonly referring to it as a little ‘’pearl’’. Living here for years has made us very fond of its beauty.
In the next 3 posts we will introduce you to some of the most popular routes around this area, which are hikes to three heights, or you could call them peaks.
Fløresteinen
Posisjon
58°19’2.81″ 8°24’37.97″
Height above sea level – 80,6 m
An incredible view of lillesand was revealed when we climbed to the top. It was amazing!
Local artists have contributed to the good mood during the route with many fun figures along the trail.
Specific for this place is that it was traditionally a place to celebrate Easter. People gathered at the top and burned a bonfire, enjoying the sun with dances. This tradition lasted until the 1920s. The place was also used for observing enemy ships during the Napoleonic War (1807-1814).
The tour to the top takes about 3 km.
To access Fløresteinen
Drive from Tingsaker Camping to the east on a narrow asphalt road to the Tingsaker school parking lot. You can park there and walk the rest of the way. If you turn right from the asphalt road into the intersection called Florenes you will see signs pointing towards Floresteinen after about 20m. Follow and the path which will take you to the top. It’s marked with red dots and signs.
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
