Time was passing quickly. After two years of amateur fishing without any specific knowledge, I seriously lacked motivation. I was going out every summer, and the only types of fish I managed to catch were mackerel and lyre ( pollock); and sometimes saithe if I was lucky. I lost my patience and desire for going any further.
My wife had just arrived to join me in my Norway adventure. Fishing was soon out of focus, and but we still liked to go out in the nature regularly. She needed help with her establishment here, learning a new language and finding a job. My energy was pointed in another direction.
Usually, we were walking by the sea or going a little higher, in the mountains. There one always feels good. Walking, it was not possible not to become loving even more this beauty, that surrounded us. It was in the air. All the sounds of the nature, birds’ songs, the whisper of the trees, carol of the waterfall, the breeze of the sea. Pictures and colours, water, and rocks, all this grace was bordered on the unreal, the fabulous fiction.
It made us feel like transferred to a fairy-tale world where anything was possible! And it was real! So real that you can feel it with each of your senses.
It is extremely exciting to live near seaside and it takes only 10 km to reach the mountains. The variety of vegetation overflowing with a lot of water is incredible. Each season is a beautiful here. Spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Even the rainy season – late summer and early autumn is wonderful. To make a barbecue in one of the charming sea bays or near a mountain lake is always a pleasure.
More and more often we went out with friends and shared those incredible moments.
The nature here is totally unique and one of the great prides of the Norwegians. They have a maxim: “Ut på tur aldri sur”, which means that one can never be in a bad mood whilst on a trip outside. We were interested in different places, visited, and made outings and learned more and more about life in nature. Sometimes we met so many people in popular areas, that I had this feeling at the whole town was outside.
One must touch all of this himself. Only then will man understand meaning and advantages of this kind of lifestyle. And there comes a moment when just even thought about going out in nature is like oil for the soul.
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
