Hello my friends!
Some time ago one of our readers wrote to us with request about some tips about fishing trips here in Norway.
We have done some research and found out information on about a such possibility, which we would like to share with you here as well.
In the near area we live we find out at there is a company which provides Guided fishing trips. After we looked at their website, we contacted them by email to get some more details.
Next weekend we took a short trip to this beautiful place to get some personal impressions.
Tregde ferie offers the” most southern guided fishing trip, where the fishing-luck is big”. This we can read on their page. The holiday centre is situated nearby city Mandal, which in turn is located nearly 55 km from the nearest airport Kjevik in Kristiansand. With its wonderful location on the shore, the complex offers various accommodation in different sizes: a hotel and different type of cabins. Here you can find a restaurant, coffee bar, shop, and equipment rental. The base has a swimming pool which is open in the summer.
As regards fishing trips, the company provides detailed information on their website about the period in which they take place: from September to May, as well as other practical details and prices.
Here we also learned that freshly caught fish can be grilled directly down at the pier by Tregde ferie, or man can prepare himself it in own apartment.
We also bring to your attention a link to the company’s website for direct contact, questions to them and possible reservations.
Here you can choose English menu.
Official fishing regulations in Norway
In their email to us, Tregde Ferie points at they are a registered tourist fishing company. They follow high safety at sea and their guests will receive training on their boats, on safety by sea and how to register catches. There is an official regulation and guests from other countries, who is fishing in Norway, can bring with them 18kg fillet fish. They must use catch reporting.
When you come as a fisherman in Norway from abroad, it is a good idea to be familiar with the rules that apply. You can read them on the Directorate of Fisheries’ pages:

Other possibilities in the area
After a wonderful day trip around, we realized that there are many natural attractions and the opportunities for different types of excursions, both by boat and by land. We decided to visit the place called Strømmen, which is extremely popular among fishermen in the summer. Here a strong current is formed in a gorge, which is remarkably interesting and is a paradise for sea trout.
The place has cultural and historical value.
There are many beautiful places in the area and last but not least here is one of the best salmon fishing rivers Mandal elva.
We also found out that there are a lot of similar places here in Norway, where such kind of vacations are organized. In our other future posts, we will give you more details about them as well.
Covid 19 situation
Last but not least, we would like to remind you that we are in the middle of an incredibly special period. Due to the Covid- 19 pandemic, all international travels to Norway are strictly limited to a minimum. There are huge restrictions at the moment, so we recommend you check the official statement from the Government of the Norway about this issue before you book you trip. Our advice is to wait for one more appropriate period when this is official allowed to travel and the virus situation is under control.

At the moment of publication of this post, 16 May 2021, we can read on the link above that ” In order to limit import infection, foreigners’ access to Norway has been tightened sharply. Only those non-Norwegian citizens who are residents of Norway are permitted to enter the country. ”
We hope that all this terrible situation with this virus will finish soon.
We really hope!
