Dear friends,
Today we continue with our story from our last post. Hope you enjoy!
One day in early spring we decided to take a trip to Homborsund and try our luck for sea trout. We chose one of the many good places with a shallow and leopard-like bottom. It is a wonderful bay and rocks cut straight through the sea. We parked the car, took everything we needed and headed to the place. The best thing was that we walked only 1 km before we arrived. There is nothing better than breathing in the fresh air and the aroma of flowering trees in the spring.
The place itself is magical. Two large bays separated by rocks, green grass along one of them. The other is rocky, with a leopard bottom and crystal-clear sea. The day was quiet with an exceptionally light southern breeze. We left our stuff, prepared our fishing rods, and approached the shore carefully. We poured a cup of coffee each from the thermos and inspected the water while sipping from the heated cup. We chose places and very quietly approached the water; the fish can be scared if he accidentally notices you. If so, you can forget about catching anything today.
The rods we use are Shimano, 9 feet, one with 4 divisions and the other with two. You can use fish between 7 and 27 grams. Sara preferred a fish of 12 g by Mørsilda and I a fish of 10 g. We threw for about half an hour without result, so we decided to drink one tea before continuing. Sara moved 50 meters to the right, and I decided to try my luck on the other side of the other rocky bay. I saw something in the water that caught my attention. I threw carefully and started to retract quite quickly, and a heavy fish was suddenly on the hook. A nice big trout that gave a lot of resistance but after 3, 4 minutes it was already on the shore. Had not been so pleasantly surprised in a while.
Only 5 minutes later I heard Sara shouting something. I let go of the fishing rod and went up a bit to see what was happening. She had also hooked a fish, but unfortunately, she could not keep it on the hook. 1 hour later and nothing new. We decided it was time to eat lunch and rest. The fish we already had got was about 1.5 kg, so we were satisfied.
We continued after, I moved to a new place. Sara decided to continue at the same place, probably because of the fish we dropped. I walked a while to the left side and after half an hour of throwing I finally hooked another trout, this time about 1 kg, we already had two. Sara had given up and was tired, enjoying the sun and a cup of coffee.
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
