Dear friends,
As you know, Norway enjoys a real wealth of many rivers and lakes. They are part of this incredible natural beauty. Naturally, many different species of fish is living in these waters. Today we will introduce you to the most popular species of fish in Norwegian freshwater pools.
It has a long body with a flattened snout and sharp teeth. Feeds on fish and even eats its own species, growing rapidly. Lives in slow-flowing rivers or lakes. It likes to stand in overgrown places between plants. It indwell the Norwegian freshwater of Trøndelag, Østfold and Akershus districts. Pike has average length at about 40–55 cm , but the maximum recorded lengths of this fish was 150 cm (59 in) and weights of 28.4 kg.
This is a fish that can be caught easily. It has two fins and dark transverse stripes, and is easy to recognize. And reaches a size of about 40 cm and 1.2 kg in weight. Indwell in southern and eastern Norway, but it in the western part of the country, in lakes and rivers. Good food fish.
It can be found in some places here. The flower is gray-green, grows quickly and reaches 40 cm and 3 kg in weight. It feeds on small fish and lichens. And generally prefers deep waters.
This species can reach 90 cm in length and 30 kg in weight. If the water is colder, they spend the winter, for example, buried at the bottom. This is a bottom fish. It is not commen for Norwegian freshwater. One could caught it in the South Norway, as well as in the Bergen region.
This fish is from the Cyprinidae family. Small in size, it reaches 25 cm in length. Common roach lives in lakes and slow-flowing waters with rich vegetation. It is most common in the eastern part of the country.
This is my favorite fish. Also called Canadian trout. Very beautiful fish from the salmon family. It loves and inhabits clean and cold waters. And can be found all over Norway, but most often in the north. This is the second type of trout one could caught here. Lately, I’ve been having a harder time coming across this species. To the north, the fish go down to the sea for a short time to feed, but then return to freshwater. It inhabits mountain lakes and rivers where it is colder and often deeper. It can reach 8 kg but 2.3 kg is super weight.
Those are the other two species that inhabit both the fresh and salt waters of Norway. We will talk about them in more detail in the future.
I hope we have been helpful to you and thank you for visiting our blog!
