Dear friends,
Today we will continue with our exciting story. Thank you for being with us again!
Åknes, the place we always go back to. There is something that simply attracts you, not only the beauty of nature, nor the fish and water. Incredible positive energy hovers in the air itself. A space that fills your soul, here a person can feel some peace and tranquillity.
Let’s talk about the fishing experience. The water was clean, and most of the fish were not the largest, but large enough (in the range of 350 to 600 g). It bites everywhere. We stood at the mouth of the river where it flew into the lake. When mountain trout fishing, we use a Barkley and Shimano rods, which is quite short- 7.8 feet, in the axis of 4 to 15 grams. The rods are comfortable and light. They do not get stuck in bushes and plants when descending into the river in more difficult sections. We use lures weighing about 4 to 12 g, and small wobblers too. Worm fishing will also work well. After about 2 hours of fishing here and catching quite good fish, we decided to go about 1 km downstream along the river, where the lake narrows, and the current begins to intensify. It’s a convenient location with a nice parking lot and tourist information with a map of the area. We went down to the river and started throwing, Sara caught a rather large and rare specimen weighing nearly 700 g. I threw on the accelerated current and in less than 1 hour we caught about 10 fish.
The trout here is called fjellørret in Norwegian, but there is another species called bekkerøye This is another type of trout or more precisely the so-called Canadian trout. She is very beautiful but loves a little colder water. Very often in these places one can catch this species as well. It was our goal to catch both types.
We decided to leave the car and walked down the river for about another kilometre. We found a quiet place where the river made a big turn. We decided that this was a good place to try and catch, and after only a few attempts I got a good fish again. But the excitement was doubled when we found out that this was the other species of Canadian trout. After 1 hour of hasted fishing, we still had a lot of catches, of which 5 pieces were the amazing Canadian ones. We were already tired, but it was very difficult to leave.
What a wonderful experience!
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
