Dear friends,
Today we would like to share one more beautiful story about another fishing opportunity in southern Norway. The place was incredibly charming, and we are looking forward to visiting it again.
Two years ago, it was late spring, when one of my colleagues mentioned about the Åseral district as a lovely location to visit, with beautiful nature and a nice place for catching lot of mountain trout.
The same evening, I talked to Sara and it didn’t take much time to decide to rent a cottage in the area for the weekend.
The place was just 2 hours away from us.
We bought fishing tickets online, by inatur.no. For one day it cost us only 50 kr per person. Our goal was, as always, to explore the area and go fishing.
On Friday, right after work, we loaded everything we needed and set off to the goal.
The direction was European route E9 north to Evie. Just before the centre of town we had to turn left on road number 3788 and then just a few kilometres before the place we had chosen, we had to turn right on road number 4030. Picturesque road and lots of greenery surrounding it.
The place we choose to stop was incredibly beautiful, named Åknes and only 6 km up the road was the cottage. The whole area here is a famous and attractive tourist destination. Besides the fish and hiking there are also two ski centres Bortelid and Ljosland.
The area is unique. We were on the right side of the mountain, along the Logna River, near Boretelid. On the other side there is other river Ljoslandsvatnet. There are cottages and cabins everywhere, which you could rent or stay in Ljoslands fjellstova, a small mountain hotel.
Åknes, where we went fishing, is a large lake formed by the river. The water is controlled by more such lakes upstream. Apart from fishing, this place is also good for camping. Here you will find a sandy beach and cycling routes in summer, skiing in winter and overall charming nature all year round.
We had marked in advance the places where we would like to fish downstream, because trout fishing insists a lot of movement and change of places.
In our next post we will tell you more about this wonderful place and how exactly fortune smiles on us – we caught a lot of fish and made many beautiful memories we took home with us after this trip.
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
