Fishing and hiking are a big part of our lives.
It all started as a wonderful opportunity to relax and recharge amidst nature. Sara and I steadily began to become more and more interested in the opportunities and activities Norwegian landscape offers. Twice a month and even every single week we went out to fish and hike with our friends.
We both had a lot of common interests and it was great. Willingness to learn new things was unsurprisingly a huge motivational force, and our own experience was our best teacher. We Invested more time in research, tourist equipment and fishing accessories, and over time, we became better and better prepared. At one point we had just about everything we needed to have a fun and safe time outside. We focused on season wear and equipment suitable for any weather.
It’s not easy to buy everything at once. Much better is to devote sufficient time to this process and this happens gradually and sensibly. It is important to work with what you have and sometimes think about what you need, your experience will teach you!
If you look at fishing as a hobby and not as something you absolutely HAVE to get good at, you’ll easily get better and better at choosing the right equipment and the activity itself.
Slowly we began to accentuate on quality products, no matter what we bought. Rod, reel, fibre, bait, flies, clothes and shoes, event tents and boats. It is important to be comfortable and to gain knowledge of what is needed and how to use it.
For example, I had worked a lot with a spinning rod for a while, but later invested time and took a course in fly fishing. However, everything needs time and a lot of patience.
After a while we also gained experience in outdoor camping, gradually expanding the range of the things we try. The winter season gives great opportunities for cross-country skiing, as well as alpine. We are trying to take advantage of these possibilities too.
After a few years I can say we have a routine and experience in our meetings with nature, and we continue to learn. It’s an important and endless process. Along the way we met many people, specialists in various areas. We received opinions and advice, which were helpful to us.
From now on we would like to share everything we have learned, and everything we are going to learn together with you. And most of all to be useful with up-to-date information and advice about fishing in Norway.
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
