Lindesnes is a municipality in Agder and is the southernmost in Norway. It is located west of Lillesand on the E39 road after Kristiansand. Shortly after Mandal the road turns left along 3990. This is a popular peninsula where you can find many good hiking spots.
Nice beaches, bays and lots of villas in the village called Spangereit and along the road itself which is coastal and leads there. The archipelago is quite solid with beautiful landscapes. There are flat green areas in a combination with rocks and mountains.
We traveled and enjoyed along the sea, the road winding along beautiful bays of Lindesnes. We went up and down as the higher places revealed the incredible views. The nature was diverse, as we encountered quite a lot of heat-loving vegetation such as Oak, for example.
We passed two very impressive bays.
Immediately after them we entered a flatland. And on the left side, we saw a beach with low dunes, which was quite large. On the right side were many tourist villas there.
Lindesnes Havhotell
Immediately after the beach, there were flat green areas on the left and right. Beautiful houses and large yards litter the coast. Just before the center of Spangereit we came across the channel that connected the two small fjords Grønsfjorden and Lenefjorden.
We turned right before the bridge and headed to Lindesnes Havhotell where we stayed. A wonderful hotel for a beach holiday with good facilities.
Under
Near the hotel is the world’s largest underwater restaurant Under. Of course, here you can enjoy a wonderful underwater view and delicious local food. The guest hall is for 100 people and is 500 square meters. It is no coincidence that Forbes magazine says that it is one of the most remarkable places with its special menu, which consists of the best Scandinavian ingredients and recipes.
Lindesnes Lighthouse (fyr)
One of the biggest attractions here is Lindesnes fyr, the southernmost point of Norway. Also it is the oldest lighthouse in the country. Here there is a large car park, an information center and a pleasant climb to the top of the lighthouse. Also from there you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets and the beautiful sea surrounding the rocks.
Fishing in Lindesnes
For us, Spangereit became a favorite place with its beauty and positive energy. Even more the whole municipality has a similar feeling. In addition to beautiful nature, there are also wonderful opportunities for fishing.
Haowever the distance from Mandal to Spangereit is about 30 km. Two large rivers, the Mandal elva and the Audna elva, flow here, which are good for salmon and sea trout fishing. Also here there are many bays and small fjords where one can fish among the wonderful nature.
In our next blog we will continue our journey up to the municipality of Farsund. And we will tell you what interesting we will look at there.
We wish you a nice week and see you soon again!
