Telemark is a region and county in Eastern Norway. The name of Telemark comes from Old Norse Þilamǫrk, named after the folk group Þilir who lived in Upper Telemark during the Migration Period and the Viking Age.
Telemark stretches from Skagerrak to Hardangervidda.
Geographically, topographically, culturally-historically and linguistically, Telemark represents the transition between Eastern Norway, Southern Norway and Western Norway. The great natural geographical and cultural diversity characterizes this area.
This is one of the many beautiful areas in Norway.
Divided into two upper and lower Telemark, here you can enjoy wonderful landscapes.
Today we will tell you about one part of this area. We will try to talk more with photos from and around the place called Raulаnd.
Explore beautiful Rauland
Rauland is an ideal place to visit both in winter and summer.
Here you can feel the incredible winter magic and beauty of Norway and indulge in your favorite winter sports. Rauland is the largest winter destination of Telemark with 16 lifts, 46 alpine slopes and activities for the whole family.
Summer here is amazing. The area offers incredible nature, suitable for hiking, fishing, gathering mushrooms and forest fruits, photo safaris and even beach and sun bathing.
We had the good fortune to spend a few days here in July and we were charmed. We rented a room in one of the hotels there and devoted 4 days to enjoying everything we could touch.
The idea was to try some fishing as well, as well as see more of Rauland’s incredible magic.
The first night caught us a little off guard, 8 degrees Celsius and windy.
Totak Lake
This is one of the deepest lakes in Norway.
The lake has a larger fish production than what is taken out, so there is a lot of small fallen arctic char. For this reason, large fish-eating trout are released, which should help increase interest in fishing.
Lognvikvatn
Day 2 of our trip was completely different. 24 degrees Celsius, sun and summer mood.
From the panoramic road above Lognvikvatn, an amazing view opened up in front of us.
After we descended, another pleasant surprise followed. Amazing place. A small and cozy beach with fine fine sand. It is Fagersand. Another amazing place for your summer vacation.
Møsvatn
Another landmark here is Møsvatn. It is Telemark’s largest lake and the largest in Scandinavia above 900 m AMSL. Here in the summer it is suitable both for fishing and for a high mountain cruise.
M/B Fjellvåken runs between Skinnarbu and Mogen Turisthytte (Turist Cabin) every day in the summer. The trip across Møsvatn takes about 1.5 hours.
It can be combined with a traditional dinner at Mogen Turist Cabin and overnight stay.
This place captivated us completely and forever. We will definitely come back here again.
We hope, dear friends, that we have been useful to you with this post. And you could enjoy the beautiful Norwegian nature.
