Hello friends,
Here we are again! Today we will tell you about the beautiful lakes of Fyresdal.
Location and features of Fyresdal
Fyresdal is located in Vestfold og Telemark almost in the middle of southern Norway. A magical place with large green pines, high and accessible peaks. The highest parts are overgrown with lower bushes. At the same time the most remarkable is the beautiful lakes, which are very much about 30. They are located everywhere, both in the low and in the higher places, combined with the diverse vegetation. The largest lake is Fyresvatnet and the second largest – Nesvatn. To the sides of them and a little to the north are the other lakes. They are smaller, but incredibly beautiful.
Good routes are easier, shorter and longer, as well as more difficult with large and steep climbs to different peaks. There are good markings everywhere on the trails and this makes the experience safe and exciting. Campsites are the other nice thing, well arranged. There is also a lot of information for tourists. You can buy maps and brochures for the most attractive places. Fyresdal has a rich cultural history. In addition, here you can see old craft centers.
One of the places you must visit here is Kvipt. This is an old mountain farm with buildings dating back to the 17th century. In the past, it was a meeting place for travelers and villagers. Here you can see now a farm with several restored buildings from the old days, including the so-called Stabbur. The exact name of the place is Kvipt Gjestegard.
It is a very suitable place for hunters, fishermen and tourists. Various gatherings can be organized here, such as weddings, teambuilding and others. The place is open from mid -June to mid-August. In addition, it can be opened in September or May by appointment. All buildings are made in 18th century style with a good standard. Тhus they are nice and welcoming surrounded by incredibly beautiful and bizarre nature. You can prepare your own food or call the kind owners and dine in the small family restaurant.
Fishing in the three lakes nearby is free for guests of the farm. There is a grocery store just 3 km away.
If you want you can rent boats and canoes or admire livestock is just an idyll. Here you will receive a hospitable and kind attitude from the hosts, as well as the necessary information about everything related to hiking, fishing or hiking. Later in one of our upcoming blogs we will introduce you closely to these wonderful hosts.
Look forward to our next blog about the exciting outing we did with Sara here at Kvipt. For the big climb, spend the night in a tent on the shores of the amazing mountain lake Grøssæ in the mountain Kvipt and last but not least the delicious fish we caught there!
