Dear friends,
Today we will introduce you to an incredibly picturesque and romantic place – Lillesand, or the so-called little pearl of Sørlandet (Southern Norway).
The charming little town
This seaside town has a very interesting location. Stand at a certain height and look towards the sea. You’ll soon notice that it is possible to enter the bay from the open sea (Skagerrak) through only 3 places, with a boat or a small ship; one of which is very narrow. Only smaller boats can pass through it. The other straits are on the other hand much wider.
The sea differs and cuts the land in a very interesting way. A very large archipelago of about 300 islands is formed, which continues all the way to Høvåg. Narrow straits, beautiful and picturesque bays, islands, many reefs along which you can drop an anchor and enjoy the scenery.
One of Norway’s most beautiful coastlines
Boat trips are most exciting during the summer. One day will hardly be enough to go around everything that nature has offered. You can visit beautiful public beaches, small hidden sandy beaches or beaches covered with soft, mowed and maintained grass.
The coastline is of mixed ownership of both private individuals, the municipality and the state. The origin of the name Blindlea is unknown, but the distance you can travel by boat inland is about 20 km. It is well protected from the open sea.
Justøya is the largest island in Blindleia, connected to the mainland by a bridge on one of the narrow straits. People live here permanently. Another island that has no connection to the mainland is Ågerøya, and there are still about 25 people living here permanently. Some of the old settlements and ports are used as resorts with preserved buildings from ancient times. A unique and beautiful place like this is rarely found!
Honestly, it’s worth taking a trip by boat and really seeing why this place is called the Pearl of southern Norway.
Thank you for visiting Norway fishing & nature!
We hope to see you again soon!
